Randstad has partnered with ALPA (Arnhem Land Progress Aboriginal Corporation), one of Australia’s largest Aboriginal-owned benevolent corporations. We are seeking passionate individuals ready to bring their skills to some of the most beautiful and remote parts of Northern Australia. This isn’t just a job, it’s an opportunity to support the social and economic development of remote communities.

About your next role

As the highest-level Operations Manager for our retail division, you will provide the strategic oversight and high-level project management necessary to ensure our essential community stores thrive.

  • Lead the strategic direction of the retail division rather than day-to-day operational tasks

  • Provide high-level mentorship and management to Regional Managers and the GM of Retail

  • Drive complex project management initiatives to improve store efficiency and service delivery

  • Maintain full accountability for the financial performance, recruitment strategies, and turnover across the retail network

  • Navigate unpredictable environments and crisis management scenarios with composure and decisive action

  • Bridge the gap between corporate strategy and the unique logistical challenges of remote Arnhem Land

What we look for

You are a confident yet empathetic leader who thrives in environments where no two days are the same.

  • Extensive experience in senior retail management within grocery, department stores (e.g., Kmart, Bunnings, Target), or food services

  • Strong background in independent retail environments where flexibility is favored over rigid corporate scheduling

  • High-level financial acumen and the ability to manage complex budgets without requiring a formal finance qualification

  • Proven ability to remain accountable and independent while managing a remote workforce

  • Resilience and empathy to handle unique regional situations, from community evacuations to emergency logistics

Mandatory Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a Working with Children Check (Ochre Card)

  • National Police Clearance

  • Current Australian Driver’s License

  • Ability to travel to remote communities one week per month (flexible arrangements)

What you will get in return

  • FREE Accommodation and utilities fully covered when travelling

  • 5 weeks annual leave + 17.5% leave loading

  • 14% superannuation

  • The chance to make a meaningful difference in remote First Nations communities
